MAXWELL – A group of Maxwell Intermediate School students have taken the phrase “throw kindness around like confetti” pretty seriously.

K-Kids, a student-led organization sponsored by Greenfield Kiwanis, recently celebrated a year of service with recognition certificates.

K-Kids focuses on service opportunities, character building and leadership development, meeting once a month and planning service projects throughout the school year.

Projects this year included a school-wide canned food drive for the Hancock County Food Pantry, student recognition of leaders through “Set a Good Example Day;” a collection drive for the Hancock County Animal Shelterand visual reminders throughout the hallways of the school to help students and staff share what they are thankful for.

After not being able to meet for more than a year due to the pandemic, teacher Jennifer Bladsell said it was wonderful to be able to come back together and serve in the 2021-2022 school year.
