Summer children’s theater applications due
GREENFIELD – Students in grades 4 through 8 that want to participate in the 2022 Hancock County Children’s Theater Workshop must turn in an application by March 11.
The program runs 8:30-11:30 a.m. each weekday from May 31 to June 24. This year’s production is “The Enhancement of Beauty and the Beast.” Around 100 children with talents in the visual or performing arts will be selected for participation.
The workshop will take place at Greenfield-Central High School; performance dates are June 24 and 25. Cost is $125.

Grants available for college, career readiness
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Commission for Higher Education is accepting applications for the 2022 School and Community Partnership Grant until March 18.
Grants are designed to bring together K-12 schools, postsecondary institutions, employers and community organizations to plan and implement supportive efforts for students of all ages to complete education and training beyond high school.

Children’s art contest this month
GREENFIELD – Hancock County students ages 5 to 18 are encouraged to enter an art contest focusing on kindness and inclusivity in Hancock County.
The contest, by Hancock Regional Hospital and Healthy365, will give art supply baskets and a cash prize to winners, along with long-term display at HRH. If a winning piece is submitted by a local art teacher, an additional $250 supply grant will be awarded to the teacher as well.
One entry per student is allowed; paint, ink, crayon, pencil, marker, digital formats or texture are accepted. The entry should include the artist’s name, grade and guardian’s contact information. Black and Gold Gala set for April
FORTVILLE – The Mt. Vernon Education Foundation will have its Black and Gold Gala at 6 p.m. April 23 at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis.

Trade, nontraditional scholarships available
GREENFIELD – Several scholarships are available through the Hancock County Community Foundation, with application deadlines approaching.
Trade and Technical Scholarship Applications will close at 4 p.m. April 15. Scholarships are for those with a career path headed towards trade or technical training.
Nontraditional Scholarship applications are open and money remains to be awarded. Applicants must qualify as an “independent student” as determined by the College Costs Estimator. They must have had their normal course of education interrupted, and plan to pursue a post-secondary education credential at the undergraduate level in an online or traditional setting. Recipients will be chosen based on financial need. An interview with representatives from Leaders in Navigating Knowledge and the HCCF is required.
