Community briefs: Open house to focus on county comp plan

GREENFIELD – The community is invited to attend an open house to share ideas on a draft plan for the future of Hancock County.

The Hancock County Comprehensive Plan will be discussed in the Future Hancock Open House, 5 to 6:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, Jan. 25) in the Hancock County Annex chamber, 111 American Legion Place, Greenfield. People may drop in at any time to share their thoughts with members of the planning team, county staff and steering committee in a casual setting. A short presentation on the project will be made to the Hancock County Plan Commission at 6:30 p.m.; that meeting is also open to the public.

Greenfield Elks to host trivia night

GREENFIELD – A trivia night benefiting Greenfield Elks will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Elks Club, 820 S. State St.

Cost is $10 per person, with $10 per team going to the pot; winner takes all. A $7 dinner includes pulled pork, slaw, chips and a drink; a cash bar will also be available. Email [email protected] to reserve a table.

Dine to donate event Feb. 4

GREENFIELD – A dine-to-donate event benefiting the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen will be held at Panda Express Friday, Feb. 4.

A portion of sales that day will go to the soup kitchen. Orders can be made at PandaExpress.com with the fundraiser code 333046 or with a paper flyer in person at 1973 N. State St., Greenfield. The fundraiser is happening from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Wellspring launches mental health, wellness groups

GREENFIELD – Wellspring Center’s mental health and wellness groups have started this month and are still accepting participants.

The center, located in Brandywine Community Church, includes in-person adult groups on mental health, families dealing with mental health, men’s and women’s groups, divorce groups, grief groups and groups for youth ages 9 to 17. Computers to be donated to schools, nonprofits

GREENFIELD – State Farm of Indiana and Michigan is donating 10,000 gently used computers to schools and nonprofit organizations. Groups may request up to 25 computers per calendar year; laptops, desktops or a combination and related equipment may also be requested. Those interested in applying can email [email protected].
