To the editor:

In the past 10 to 15 years, this county has progressed from being in financial stress to being financially sound with big cash balances in all major funds. That’s money to invest in efficiency-producing systems; good pay for county employees; a bond rating of AA+; and a cushion for difficult economic times. This was accomplished by the county council, commissioners other elected officials, department heads and county employees all working together. During that time, I have been honored to be the chairman of the council’s Budget, Efficiency and Revenue Committee.

Now, with adequate finances, county government is positioned to invest in new initiatives like mental health and addiction recovery programs for people both within the justice system and those in the community.

I would like to be part of those initiatives, so I am announcing my intention to run again for Hancock County Council District 3.
