WEST HAVEN, Conn.

Bill Wooten, 55, died unexpectedly on January 7, 2022, at the VA Hospital in West Haven, CT.

He was born August 15, 1966, in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Lonnie L. Wooten, Jr., and Joann (Childers) Wooten. Bill graduated from Greenfield Central H.S. in 1984, after which he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Constitution and the USS Lexington. He then switched to the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer where he served

in Baumholder, Germany. After his time in the service, he returned to Indiana where he lived the next 25 years. Bill married his lifelong friend, Barbara Sutkaitis, in December 2021.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Wooten (Granby, CT); mother Joann Wooten (North Vernon, IN); his daughter Ami Wooten (Pendleton, IN); and “The Twins,” Fred Wooten (Indianapolis, IN) and Frank Wooten (Indianapolis, IN). He is also survived by nephew Tony Wooten; nieces Ashlee Wooten Green and her husband Noah, and Lindsey Wooten; and nephew Jacob Wooten.

Bill wished to be cremated with his remains spread over his two favorite places?the beach looking out over the ocean and a NASCAR track.

Services will be held privately in Granby, CT and a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in Indianapolis. Those who wish to remember Bill in a special way can make a contribution to the Hancock County Boys and Girls Club, 715 E. Lincoln St., Greenfield, IN 46140.
