County adds 4 COVID-19 deaths; total now 209

HANCOCK COUNTY — Four more county residents have died from COVID-19, raising the local total to 209.

Three of the fatalities were age 80 or older, according to the Indiana Department of Health. One was in their 50s. Two were women and two were men. Three of the deaths occurred on Jan. 8 and one on Jan. 7.

The county continues to record cases in the triple digits: 164 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Jan. 10.

Indiana recently added 110 new COVID-19 deaths between Nov. 25, 2021 through Jan. 10, 2022, raising its total to just under 19,200. The state also added nearly 12,000 new cases between Dec. 29, 2021 through Jan. 10, 2022.

On Jan. 10, Indiana’s COVID-19 hospital census rose to the highest it’s ever been for the pandemic, with 3,467 patients. It surpassed a high of 3,460 in late November 2020.
