Evelyn JoNell “Jo” Walters, age 87, of Greenfield passed away November 23, 2021. She was born February 23, 1934, in Indianapolis to the late Bert and Lola (Mansfield) Bartley. Jo was a graduate of Manual High School. She married Robert J. Walters on April 7, 1951.
Jo was a healthcare administrator for one of Greenfield’s prominent nursing homes for many years, prior to her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards. She wrote poetry in her younger years. And she had a great love and passion for pets.
Jo is survived by her children, Barbara (William) Coffin and Robert (Cindy) Walters, Jr.; grandchildren: Amanda (Christopher) DeHart, Jessica (Ryan) Reese, and Jody Walters; and 6 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Walters, Sr.; grandson, William Jeffery Coffin; and siblings: Chester Bartley, Mable Grounds, and Phyllis Wheat.
Stillinger Family Funeral Home has been honored to assist the family during their time of loss. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield. The committal service will follow at Park Cemetery where Jo will be laid to rest next to her husband.
