School briefs: Nursing program expands at MVHS

FORTVILLE— Mt. Vernon is expanding its health science program for students interested in nursing. Last year, a new Health Sciences 1 program was initiated, and all 15 students who took the course completed their Certified Nursing ASsistant state exam. This year, an additional section was added for second-year students,w ho will have externships at Hancock Regional Hospital and will complete the program as Certified Clinical Medical Assistants.

Virtual art show for JB students

GREENFIELD — A virtual art show is being conducted for JB Stephens Elementary School. Trip Kappa offers scholarships

GREENFIELD — Tri Kappa, a service sorority, is seeking applicants for state scholarships to be awarded for the 2022-2023 school year. The student must be a college sophomore, junior or senior and in an accredited baccalaureate or graduate program to apply. A student with interrupted studies of at least five years but enrolled for 2021-2022 may also apply, as well as past recipients.

There are three scholarships available: an academic scholarship, a fine arts scholarship for those majoring in dance, drama, music or art; and a scholarship for those wishing to teach music. To request an application, email Sandy Miller at [email protected]. Applications are due Jan. 31, 2022.
