GREENFIELD
Richard Glen Cathcart, age 81, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis on May 6, 1940 to Everett A. and Estella (Stout) Cathcart. He attended Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis. Richard married Brenda (Hess) on January 11, 1958 in Indianapolis.
He worked for Schwitzer Corporation in Indianapolis as a machine operator for 18 years. Mr. Cathcart was also a custodian at Greenfield-Central High School for 10 years before retiring in 2021. He enjoyed playing golf, NASCAR racing, and watching football, especially Colts. Richard was kind, caring, and funny on occasion, depending on who you ask.
Richard is survived by his wife, Brenda Cathcart of Greenfield; sons, Richard Allen (Kathy) Cathcart of Greenwood, William Louis Cathcart of Lafayette; daughter, Anita Padgett of Wilkinson; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Hubert (Barbara) Cathcart of Carmel and Harry (Lois) Cathcart of Lakeland, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Estella Cathcart; five brothers, Ed, Jim, Tom, Joe, and Steven Cathcart; and his sister, Jeanette Cathcart.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Park Cemetery.
