McCordsville church to serve Thanksgiving dinner

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church will serve a Thanksgiving dinner from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 20) at the church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.

The annual dinner typically features turkey with noodles made by a group of parishioners in the church kitchen.

The dinner was canceled in 2020 amid coronavirus safety concerns.

Organizers of this year’s event have made changes to promote safety. They’ve reduced the number of tables and seats in the fellowship hall for the event, but they’ve added an hour of serving, to accommodate more people but reduce the number gathered at one time.

Takeout is available and encouraged. Distancing and mask-wearing while waiting in line is also encouraged.

Instead of the self-serve cold/salad bar, diners can choose from cranberry or apple salad. The rest of the menu is a choice of turkey or ham with dressing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, noodles and rolls. For dessert, diners can choose pumpkin, apple or pecan pie.

There is no charge for the dinner. Donations are accepted from those able to make them.
