Lois M. Hanson, 91, of Fortville, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at her home surrounded by family. She was born August 5, 1930, in Waterloo, Iowa to Leroy and Frances (Flugge) Robarge. Lois was a loving mother, devoted wife, and medical receptionist, retiring in 1993. She was very active in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Fortville. Lois was a member of choir, Women’s Club, Long Range Planning committee and was President of St. Ann’s Club from 1999 to the present. Lois was also elected to the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation Board of Directors having served from 1998 until 2001. She married Donald F Hanson of Rice Lake, WI, in 1950. During 21 moves in her adult life, she served as an officer’s wife, class mother, seamstress, artist, swim team meet clerk of course, election polling official, and Girl Scout chaperone, finally unpacking her last box in Fortville in 1973.

Lois is survived by children: LindaMarie Hanson of Fortville, Kathleen L. (Hank) Keirsey of Fort Montgomery, NY, Scott D. (Sandy) Hanson of Dickenson ND, Carolyn F. Sillery of Indianapolis, Jennifer A. (Denise Watso) Hanson of Niskayuna, NY, Mary J. (Bruce) Alvarado of Fortville, Edwin A. (Leanne) Hanson of Fredericksburg, VA, Amy B. DVM (Leslee) Hanson, of Tampa, FL, and Joseph F. (Stacey) Hanson of Indianapolis; 27 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; siblings: Tom, Jim and John Vonasek all of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband U.S. Colonel (Ret) Donald F. Hanson, son Stephen T. Hanson, parents, sister Luanne Vonasek and son-in-law Jon Wilson.

Her grandchildren are: Donald, the reverend Douglas, SA, Kellie, Kristen, Michele, Kathleen, Jim Dan, Kent, Michelle, Greg, Sarah, Samantha, Stephanie, Noah, Eliana, Jordan, David, Jack, Mark, Andrew, Kathryn, Christopher, Ben, Henry, Paige, Nicholas, and Jonathon.

Lois’ cherished great grandchildren are: Eden, Adeline, Jack, Owen, August, Maeve, Bennen, Ellis, Oliver, Sonny, Hank, Ila, Kent, Georgia, Lillian, Elijah, Michael, Sheppie, Payton, Cole, Isabell, Adrienne, Skylar, Annamarie, Edwin, Joshua, Daniel, Savannah, Phoebe, Liam, Harland and Felix. Family reunions always include her “other son” John Hoskins.

Friends may call on Monday, November 22, 2021, from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A Rosary service will be conducted at 7:45 pm on Monday at Seals. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 11:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Fortville. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
