GREENFIELD — The 23rd annual Women Helping Women banquet was canceled this year just a couple of weeks before it was to take place, but organizers still managed to raise $110,000.

The money raised through ticket sales, sponsorships and an online auction will be used to support the Andis Women’s Clinic at Hancock Regional Hospital, which provides health screenings.

Hancock Health CEO Steve Long said this year’s fundraiser— scheduled for Oct. 28 — was canceled in the interest of health and safety amid a rise in COVID-19 cases earlier this fall.

Nancy Davis, director of the Hancock Health Foundation, which puts on the annual event, said the money raised this year was the second-highest in its history. The most raised was $129,000 in 2017.
