GREENFIELD – Kathleen Dowling, age 67, of Greenfield, died at her residence on November 11, 2021. Kathy was born in Greenfield on September 16, 1954, to James Edward and Rosemary (McQuade) Dowling. She was a graduate of Greenfield Central High School, received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, and master’s degrees from Purdue University and Butler University.

She was an educator, coach, and counselor retiring from Greenfield-Central High School in 2011 as Guidance Director. She served on the Radiology Board at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield-Central High School Board, and Greenfield Parks and Recreation Board. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, volunteered at Harris Elementary School, and was an advocate for IU Transplant, The Women’s Fund, and beloved Cougars.

Kathy will be sadly missed by her beloved dog Piper; her best friend Kathy Barr and her family Chris, Lindsay, Cooper, Addie Jo, Michael, Alyssa, Brynn, and Nash; cousins Bob, Pam, and Trace Arnold, Candy Castellanos, Paula Lawrence, Valerie Shake, Mary Beth McGee, Patrick McQuade; many beloved friends; and caretaker Joel Crawford. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Rosemary Dowling, and her sister Christine Dowling.

She was extremely grateful for the following accolades being named after her: The Kathy Dowling Aquatic Center; The Greenfield- Central School Board Room, and The Kathleen Dowling Legacy Scholarship.

Per Kathy’s request, in lieu of public services a private graveside service will be held in Park Cemetery.
