The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection reports.

Sept. 22

Lincoln Square Pancake House

901 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Violation found: C – need to have all spray bottles with chemicals labeled with common name, corrected.

Sept. 23

New Palestine Junior High School

2279 S. 600W, New Palestine

Violation found: NC – walk-in freezer has ice build-up on unit and is accumulating on the floor and boxes, to be corrected by Oct. 18.

New Palestine Intermediate School

5613 W. 200S, New Palestine

Violation found: NC – dish machine is not consistently reaching 180 degrees at final rinse cycle, to be corrected by Oct. 1.

Sept. 28

Foxgardin Kitchen and Ale

215 S. Main St., Fortville

Violations found: NC – handle of ice scoop is in ice in bar area, corrected; C – employee not washing hands after touching cell phone and before putting on gloves, corrected; NC – improper cooler method observed in walk-in cooler, big cooking kettle with meat cooling down, corrected; NC – mold on baffle in ice machine, to be corrected by Sept. 29; NC – some filters are missing in exhaust hood, to be corrected by Sept. 29; NC – mop water needs to be dumped in mop sink, not outside, corrected.

Little Caesars Pizza

1633 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC – debris and grime build-up on floors in corners and under three-compartment sink, debris on ceiling in area over pizza oven, debris on coving at dough-making station and three-compartment sink areas, to be corrected by Oct. 15; NC – debris and grease build-up on outside/nonfood surface of trays and cart used to store trays, to be corrected by Oct. 15; NC – coving is coming off in places throughout store, to be corrected by Nov. 1.

Papa John’s

1001 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: C – hand-washing sink needs to be available at all times for hand washing, corrected; C – temperature of pizza prep cooler needs to hold at 41 degrees or below, to be corrected by Sept. 30; NC, R – broken tiles on floor and coving throughout the store, wall covering by office is coming off, to be corrected by Oct. 15; NC – hand sink knobs need to be cleaned, middle compartment of sink has build-up, to be corrected by Oct. 4; C – need to have air gap at drain of three-compartment sink, to be corrected by Oct. 15.

Violations found: NC – temperature measuring device on dish machine is not accurate, to be corrected by Oct. 30; C – food on prep table is above 41 degrees, table needs to be completely filled with pans to keep cold inside, corrected.
