GREENFIELD — The City council approved an ordinance on first reading Wednesday night for annexing about 94 acres south of town.

Located west of Morristown Pike and south of Davis Road, the site is part of 147 acres on which Indianapolis-based Arbor Homes wants to develop 268 single-family residential lots for a neighborhood to be called Forest at Brandywine.

Council members approved the ordinance on first reading 6-0, with Gary McDaniel, Dan Riley, Jeff Lowder, Kerry Grass, John Jester and George Plisinski voting in favor. Mitch Pendlum was not present.

A public hearing and second vote on the annexation is slated for the council’s next meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24 at City Hall, 10 S. State St.
