GREENFIELD — Mayor Chuck Fewell will proclaim Jaycie Phelps Day on July 19 in honor of the city native who made history in 1996 as a member of the first U.S. Olympic women’s gymnastic team to ever win gold.

Fewell will make the presentation to Phelps at 5 p.m. Monday, July 19 at Mozzi’s All Star Pizza, 2221 W. Main St., Greenfield. Phelps, who coaches young gymnasts in Hancock County, will be available for autographs and photos from 5 to 8 p.m.

Greenfield Youth Baseball Association will also have baseball cards autographed by the Texas Rangers’ Kyle Gibson, a Greenfield native who pitched this week in the Major League All-Star Game, for a $25 donation. Mozzi’s will have a buffet. All proceeds will go to the new Greenfield Youth Baseball complex.
