Storytime at the library is back

GREENFIELD — Free storytimes for Hancock County’s youngest residents has resumed at the Hancock County Public Library after a hiatius of more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The HCPL is offering storytimes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers outdoors during the “Tails and Tales.” The programs are offered on Tuesday mornings at the New Palestine branch and Wednesday mornings at the main library in Greenfield. To check for openings and sign up, visit hcplibrary.org and click on the Events tab.

Both branches also offer make-and-take craft kits for families to do together at home, as well as large-group outdoor family programming. “Stuntology,” a show postponed due to rain, was rescheduled to July 12; online registration for that event starts July 5.

Dine to Donate for Special Olympics

GREENFIELD — Hancock County’s chapter of Special Olympics of Indiana will hold a “Dine to Donate” fundraiser from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 14 at Leo’s Market and Eatery, 2212 W. Main St.

Ten percent of eatery proceeds will go to the organization, which provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
