The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 17

Wal-Mart Supercenter Market

Location: 1965 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair wall by walk-in freezer nearest doughnut making center, to be corrected by July 1; C — dish machine in baking area not sanitizing, corrected; NC — gauges on dish washing machine are not working properly, to be corrected by July 1.

May 18

Tyner Pond Farm LLC

Location: 90 W. McClarnon Drive, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair/replace sweep at back door, to be corrected by July 1.

Panda Chinese Restaurant

Location: 21 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — floors have build-up of debris under some equipment, in corners and along edges, to be corrected by June 18.

Cortona’s Italian Cuisine & Wine Bar

Location: 209 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — debris is starting to accumulate under equipment, more light needs to be provided over three-compartment sink, to be corrected by June 18; C — spray bottles with chemical need to be labeled with common name, corrected.

Kellwell Food Management at the Hancock County Jail

Location: 123 E. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Culver’s

Location: 1846 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — provide thermometers in all refrigeration units, to be corrected by June 1; C — reach-in/prep cooler across from pass-thru is holding food above 41 degrees, corrected.

Buffalo Wild Wings

Location: 1797 Melody Lane, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — hand-washing sink in bar area and closest to three-compartment sink did not reach 100 degrees, hand sink nearest walk-in cooler is too hot and has no cold water, bar hand-washing sink did not have much water pressure, to be corrected by June 20.

Taxman Gastropub

Location: 29 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — employee observed handing ready-to-eat food with bare hands, spray bottles with chemicals are not marked with common names, corrected; C/R — reach-in cooler drawers below grill are holding food above 41 degrees, corrected; NC — need to have thermometers in all refrigeration units if they do not have external readings, debris accumulating on floor in clean dish storing area and under some equipment/tables in kitchen, to be corrected by June 1.
