Matthew “Bub” David Cooper, 37, of Cicero, formerly of Carthage passed away on the evening of Saturday, June 5, 2021 due to injuries sustained doing something he loved, riding a motorcycle. He was born on March 21, 1984 in Carthage, a son of Brian Cooper and Dawn (husband: Rob) Moore. Matthew, known as “Bub” to many, graduated third in the class of 2002 from Knightstown High School where he played football for the Panthers. He later studied biology at Purdue University. Matthew enjoyed the outdoors, four-wheeling, hunting arrowheads, shooting sports, Monster Jam and tractor pulls. He was also a lifetime avid Notre Dame fan. Matthew’s love of motorcycles was a legacy he inherited from his grandfather, Sam Cooper. Matthew was married to Mya and together they made many memories in a short time which included coaching their sons’ Little League Baseball team to a winning game the evening before his passing. Matthew gave big bear hugs and had an even bigger heart. He loved helping people and spending time with his family. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Mya Cooper; children, Paige Cooper of Greenfield, Robert and Warren Jones of Cicero; mother, Dawn (husband: Rob) Moore of Carthage; father, Brian Cooper of Texas; brother, Benjamin (wife: Tamekah) Cooper of Indianapolis; nephews, Talen and Brock Cooper; parents-in-law, Sonny (wife: Cindy) Winkle and Samantha Powers; uncles, Pete Powers, Grant (wife: Beth) Cooper, Bill (wife: Sally) Windsor; aunts, Tracy Steelman, Shawn Cooper and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his uncles, Bobby Cooper and Kelly Veach; paternal grandparents, Sam Cooper and Ruth Elmore; maternal grandparents, Howard “Oogie” and Jeanne Windsor; paternal great-grandmother, Edith Cooper and maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Cravens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses or to the Go Fund Me page: “Help Mya and Kids”. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Friends may call from 11 – 3 pm prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
