Register for Cumberland Trails Run

CUMBERLAND – Register now to participate in the Cumberland Trails Run on June 5. The event is in celebration of National Trails Day to promote awareness of the recreation and exposure to nature that the Buck Creek and Pennsy trails provide. The event includes a 5-mile timed and scored competitive run and a 1-mile family fun run/walk. Participants of either race will receive a free Kona Ice at the finish line. Proceeds will go to the Cumberland Metropolitan Police Departments C.A.R.E. Unit. Hancock Arts calls for plein air painters

HANCOCK COUNTY – In conjunction with the Will Vawter Art Exhibition, Hancock County Arts invites artists to participate in a plein air painting event beginning at 8 a.m. on June 5. Register to participate at [email protected] or in person on the Courthouse lawn. Participants will receive a goody bag and a map. Completed art should be returned to the booth on the Courthouse lawn by 2 p.m. Twenty percent of all sales will benefit Hancock County Arts.

Fish for free on DNR properties

INDIANA — June 5 and 6 are free fishing days at Indiana Department of Natural Resources properties. Residents of the Hoosier state do not need a fishing license or a trout and salmon stamp to fish the state’s public waters on Free Fishing Days. Parks across the state will play host to fishing events on these dates. Visit in.gov/dnr/fish-and-wildlife/fishing/free-fishing-days for more information, fishing videos and information on the Learn to Fish program. The third and final Free Fishing Day is Sept. 25.
