rESTURANT INSPECTIONS

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Feb. 5

China Inn

Location: 1274 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — fried chicken, egg rolls and egg noodle temperatures are between 41 and 135 degrees (in the danger zone; refrigerate or keep hot), corrected; C — no sanitizer in restaurant, to be corrected by Feb. 6; NC — some light rods in lights are not working, to be corrected by March 1.

Brew 52

Location: 4346 S. County Road 500W, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — food needs to be reheated to 165 degrees if it contains potentially hazardous ingredients, ham and turkey do not have date mark, raw hamburger in packages stores next to loaves of bread and above cooked food in containers, corrected; NC — need to provide food thermometers, need to provide test strips for quat sanitizer, to be corrected by March 1; NC — employee observed washing hands at three-compartment sink, corrected.

Feb. 9

Kroger

Location: 1571 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — no paper towels at hand sink in cake decorating area, hand sinks in deli, produce prep and meat cutting rooms not reaching 100 degrees, daylight visible under one dock door, to be corrected by March 9.

Feb. 10

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen

Location: 1981 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Feb. 11

Wendy’s

Location: 1508 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — cheese on line is between 50 and 57 degrees (should be 41 degrees or less), corrected; C — must have proof of food handler certification of full-time employee, to be corrected by March 11; NC — missing or cracked floor tiles in kitchen by fryer, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Feb. 12

Burger King

Location: 2706 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — need to provide thermometer in reach-in cooler in cash register area, to be corrected by March 1; C — know where health reporting policy is and review periodically with employees, corrected.

Lincoln Square Pancake House

Location: 901 E. Broadway, Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Wendy’s

Location: 2809 N. County Road 600 W., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — provide test strips for quat sanitizer, to be corrected by March 1; C — employee observed touching mask with food handling gloves, then touching food contact surfaces, corrected; NC — make sure dish washing detergent is dispensed and maintained (not diluted) in wash compartment of sink.
