COVID death toll in county rises to 95

HANCOCK COUNTY — The state reported a new COVID-19 death for the county Thursday, Jan. 14, raising its total to 95.

The victim was a woman age 80 or older who died on Jan. 12, according to information from the Indiana State Department of Health.

Hancock County also added 80 new novel coronavirus cases Thursday, bringing that total to 6,219. Total COVID-19 tests administered rose to 72,787 after 746 were added.

The county’s seven-day positivity rates from Jan. 1 to 7 were 17.5% for all tests and 29.5% for unique individuals. Cumulative rates as of Thursday were 10.3% for all tests and 17.1% for unique individuals.

Indiana added 40 COVID-19 deaths Thursday, for a total of 8,830; and 4,411 cases, for a total of 578,494.

As of early Thursday, 4,015 Hancock County residents received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 760 were fully vaccinated. Statewide, 238,802 have gotten a first dose, and 48,437 have been fully vaccinated.
