County adds COVID-19 death, 75 cases

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county reported a new COVID-19 death Thursday, along with 75 new cases.

The fatality was a man age 80 or older who died on Nov. 11, according to data from the Indiana State Department of Health, raising the county’s death toll from the novel coronavirus to 46.

Hancock County also added 75 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, all but one of which were confirmed on Nov. 11. They raised the county’s case total to 1,805.

With 74 cases confirmed on Nov. 11, it became the most cases the county added in a day since the beginning of the pandemic.

On Wednesday, the state reported 64 Hancock County cases were confirmed on Nov. 10, but on Thursday corrected the figure to 47.

The county added 645 administered tests Thursday as well, raising the total to 65,043. Hancock County’s seven-day positivity rate for all tests from Oct. 30 to Nov. 5 is 9.2% and the cumulative rate is 5.1%. Its seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals from Oct. 30 to Nov. 5 is 16.4% and the cumulative rate is 8.2%.
