Home sales slow in April

HANCOCK COUNTY — Monthly stats from an Indianapolis real estate firm for April 2020 show a 35% decrease in the number of homes sold in Hancock County.

Home prices increased 7.5% in the county, to an average price of $231,378, compared to this time last year, according to F.C. Tucker Company. Home inventory also continued to drop in April 2020, down 28.7% compared to April 2019.

The company reported that even with a decrease in home sales throughout a 16-county central Indiana region, home prices continued to increase, inventory continued to decrease and homes left the market faster compared to April 2019.

Pending home sales decreased 23.2%, but the average home sale price for the region in April was $239,714, an increase of 9.8%. The year-to-date average home sale price increased by 8.8%, to $233,293. Home inventory decreased by 14.7%, compared to this time last year.

Funeral homes partner to expand free pre-planning

HANCOCK COUNTY — Seals Funeral Home and Stillinger Family Funeral Homes are now sharing a full-time pre-arrangement specialist to help families wishing to plan ahead for funeral arrangements.

Kim Callaway has worked in funeral planning for many years, a news release from the funeral homes states.

If a family so desires, it is possible to pay in advance, all at once or through payment plans for their pre-arrangements. The funds go to a safe and secure life insurance company that grows and protects the money until it’s needed.

Callaway is a Cincinnati native and has served families through the funeral profession as a cosmetologist for 23 years.

Main Street goes mobile

GREENFIELD — A nonprofit organization that represents the city’s downtown now has its own mobile app as part of a nationwide network for all Main Street districts.

It’s part of the Distrx app, available for free on the App Store and Google Play. 

As more districts are added each month, mobile users throughout Indiana and across the country will be able to see information on participating businesses, including a detailed business description, pictures, links to websites and social media channels. The app also allows businesses to create promotional offers that will appear in the app and online at no cost.
