Skvarenina re-appointed as county historian

GREENFIELD — County historian Joe Skvarenina has been reappointed to the position by the Indiana Historical Society and the Indiana Historical Bureau.

Skvarenina, who has written several books about county history, has served in this position since 1991. Skvarenina also writes a weekly column for the Daily Reporter and is host of a program on the NineStar Connect cable channel titled “Step Back in Time,” which appears on Saturdays and Sundays.

Skvarenina is a member of Phi Alpha Theta International Historical honorary and the Board of the Indiana Historical Library and Bureau. He has received the Herbert Hawkins Award from the Indiana Historical Society for contributions to local history. He also teaches at Ivy Tech State College and is a member of the Indiana Association of Historians.
