Harvest of Talents to raise money to feed hungry

FORTVILLE — The third annual Harvest of Talents fundraiser is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Fortville Christian Church, 9450 N. County Road 200W.

Decor, furniture and other items will be for sale. Live and silent auctions are also planned.

Breakfast will be available at 9 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Car show registration runs from 9 a.m. to noon, with awards given at 3 p.m.

Revival services start Sept. 8

CHARLOTTESVILLE — Lance Stevens will speak in revival services Sept. 8-11 at Charlottesville Friends Church, 6481 E. County Road 100S.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 8, and 7 p.m. Sept. 8-11.

Cathy Harris will share music.

Lord’s Acre to restore stained glass windows

McCORDSVILLE — The Lord’s Acre Family Festival runs from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13 and from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 14 at McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.

Group 541 will entertain Sept. 13.

Saturday’s acts are:

noon: Larry Huston

1:15 p.m.: Matt McClintick

2:30 p.m.: Hearts Ablaze Clogging Team

4 p.m.: Silly Safaris animal show

5:15 p.m. McCordsville UMC Worship Band

Fish tacos, sweet corn hush puppies, blueberry pie and pumpkin pie have been added to the traditional fish fry menu.

Face painting, a bounce house, vendor booths and silent auction are also part of the plans.

The festival began in 1952 to raise funds for a new parsonage. The name came from farmers pledging the proceeds from an acre’s crops, though other non-farming members devised their own plans to contribute.

Proceeds from this year’s festival will go toward repairing and restoring stained glass windows at the church.

Pulled pork dinner is Sept. 27

FORTVILLE — Fortville United Methodist Women plan a pulled pork dinner and crafts and bake sale from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at Fortville United Methodist Church, 125 E. Staat St.

Dinner is $10 and includes a pulled pork sandwich by Rollin’ Smoke BBQ, baked beans, corn casserole, cole slaw, dessert and drink. A children’s meal of hot dog, chips, applesauce and drink is available for $5.

Next Willow Branch dinner will be in spring

WILLOW BRANCH — Willow Branch United Methodist Church will not have a fall dinner in September this year.

The church does, however, have plans for a spring dinner on April 25, 2020.
