KNIGHTSTOWN

Joseph Edward Chapple, 73, of Knightstown, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Greenfield Healthcare Center. He was born on November 23, 1945 in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late Ernest and Dorothy Chapple.

Joseph served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Sharp Shooter Medal. On December 5, 1964, he was married to Patricia Tipton. They enjoyed 21 years together and raised four children before her passing on December 13, 1985. Joseph carried mail for the United States Postal Service and retired after 30 years. He also drove for the Southwest Ambulance Service and volunteered for Carthage and Knightstown fire department. Joseph always enjoyed a fried chicken meal, fishing with his friends and watching golf and the Andy Griffith Show.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 31 years, Brenda (Porter) Chapple; children, Chris (Yvonne) Chapple, Brian Chapple, Melissa Brown, Kelly (John) Jones and Dean (Tanya) Swails; grandchildren, Brett Jones, Patricia Jones, Levi Jones, Alyson (Kyle) Bever, Brittany (fiance Craig) Brown, Ty Swails, Huntyr Swails, Karah Swails, Christopher Chapple, Casey Chapple and Adam Bradford; great-grandchildren, Hadley Mae Bever, Raylea Richey, Miley, Gavin and Gage Bradford, Jayden and Grayson Chapple and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 – 5 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2019 at Glen Cove Cemetery with military honors conducted by contingents from the U.S. Army and the American Legion.
