Julius Sumpter Brown, Jr., 61, of New Castle passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born January 12, 1957 to the late Julius and Bertha (Roddy) Brown, Sr.
He was a graduate of Rock Hill High School in South Carolina. Julius was currently employed with Capstone Logistics in Greenfield and formerly employed by Atlas Cold Storage in Shelbyville. He cared about family first, was funny and was always thinking about others before himself. Julius was a hardworking man and fought a hard fight with cancer. He enjoyed drinking a few Budweiser’s, grilling and cooking food. Julius loved sports, he was a avid Michigan and Detroit Tigers fan.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Dawn Brown of New Castle; sons, Josh Brown of Las Vegas, Benjamin Brown of New Castle and Weston Brown of New Castle; brother, Jason Brown of Las Vegas; cousins and extended family in Rock Hill, SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Brown.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 – 3 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be sent to American Cancer Society, 5250 Vogel Rd, Suite A, Evansville, In 47715 or Hancock County Hospice, 1560 N. State St., Greenfield, IN 46140.
The family has requested the attire be casual, sports team apparel is welcome especially Michigan.
