James M. Dudley, Jr., 82, of Kennard, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Methodist Hospital. He was born March 12, 1936 in New Castle a son of James Melvin Sr. and Mildred Viola (Knotts) Dudley.

James was a 1953 graduate of New Castle High School and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Delco Remy in 1993 after nearly 30 years of service. He was a member of the Wilkinson Church of Christ, Knights of Pythias Lodge in New Castle, Masonic Lodge of Greensboro and Scottish Rite of Indianapolis.

James was involved with Boy Scouts for 50 years earning his Silver Beaver Award. He was an EMT for Estell’s Ambulance Service in Shirley for many years and was an avid Colts fan.

James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy S. Dudley of Kennard; children, Howard (Joy) Dudley of Spencerville, OH, Becky (Gary) Craig of Anderson; grandchildren, Johnathon (Bridget) Dudley of Stafford, KS, Alex (Laura) Craig of Port Charlotte, FL; great grandchildren, Aiden, Jaxon and Bryden Dudley; siblings, Donald (Ruth) Dudley of Greenfield, Arnold (Celesta) Dudley of Muncie and Phyllis (Jim) Moffitt of LaGrange; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Associate Pastor Dan D’Angelo officiating. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from Knightstown American Legion Post # 152 and the U.S. Army. Burial will be in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
