Dragons snag win

Annaliese Fox continued her stellar play Wednesday, shooting a one-under par round of 35 at Grey Eagle to lead the Dragons to a 185-191 victory against Fishers.

Fox’s round was her second round below par in a week. Izzy Gray added a 46. Megan Diller and Abby Belgin each shot 52. Michaela Purnell shot 53.

The Dragons are now 5-2 on the season.

Cougars get victory

Greenfield-Central traveled to Winding Ridge on Wednesday evening and pulled out a narrow road win against Lawrence North, 211 to 212.

The Cougars were led by Caroline Gibson’s 47. Tandess O’Neal followed with a 54 while Rose Gerard and Haley Hoagland added 55s.

Tennis

Royals fall to Rushville

Eastern Hancock fell on the road Wednesday to Rushville, 4-1.

The Royals got their point from the No. 1 doubles duo of Keegan Bowman and Brady Ellis, who were 6-4, 6-1 winners.

At No. 2 doubles, Peyton Robertson and Sammy Blocher fell just short in each set, 4-6, 4-6.

Volleyball

New Palestine sweeps

New Palestine improved to 5-1 on the season Wednesday with a three-set sweep of Hamilton Heights.

The Dragons won 25-15, 25-17, 25-11.

Lydia Jones had 17 kills and nine digs. Kaelyn Armstrong had eight kills and nine digs. Reina Amones had three aces. Kennedy Stephenson had two kills. Rylie Sturgeon had nine digs and Sydney Robertson added 32 assists.

Cougars top Richmond

Greenfield-Central earned its fifth win of the season against Richmond on Wednesday to advance to 5-0 on the year.

The Cougars won 25-13, 25-16, 25-19.

Greenfield-Central also expanded its set win streak to 15 straight, the longest streak under third year head coach Travis Fuller.

The Cougars were led by Ava Antic’s 16 kills and 12 digs, Molly Broome’s 31 assists and three blocks and Olivia Ellis’ four blocks.

Makalya Price added nine kills and Haleigh Pribble had five. Hannah Burkhart and Morgan Grigsby each had 12 digs and an ace, and Mary Francis had eight digs and three aces.

Cross-Country

Local teams in top 5

New Palestine and Greenfield-Central competed in Wednesday’s Pendleton Heights roundup, with the Dragons boys and girls each finishing third and the Cougars boys finishing fifth.

The Dragon boys had four top-15 finishes. Drew Austin was seventh, Josh Collins 12th, Kyler Harrison 14th and Devon Whitaker 15th.

The Dragon girls had three top-10 finishes and all five scorers in the top 20 to finish third in a 17-team field.

Kendall Mann was fourth. Victoria Crowder finished eighth, Brenna Shaw ninth, Kaylin Casner 14th and Grace Voelz 20th.

Greenfield-Central finished fifth after losing a tiebreaker for fourth. Nine Cougars had a PR (personal record), five in the varsity race. Two Greenfield-Central runners earned ribbons with a top 20 finish.

Parker Niemeier finished 17th and Conner Kinnaman finished 18th. Finishing third for the Cougars in 33rd place was Austin Nigh.
