The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 3

Speedway

Location: 335 Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair seal around mop sink.

Foxgardin Kitchen & Ale

Location: 215 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — need to have and go over health policy for food employees and applicants, employee observed touching non-food contact surfaces such as walk-in cooler door handle, clip board, marker, with food handling gloves on, then touching food, unmarked spray bottle with chemicals, corrected; NC — handle of ice scoop in ice, corrected.

Mozzi’s Pizza

Location: 23 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — sanitizing solution too strong, corrected; NC/R — gap at back door, replace/repair floor tiles that are missing/broken, install coving behind table at three-compartment sink, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Dairy Queen

Location: 346 W. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — sanitizing solution not dispensing at correct concentration, in-use utensils must be cleaned and sanitized every four hours, to be corrected by May 3; C — three-compartment sink backing up into each sink, slow draining, grease trap involved, to be corrected by May 4; NC — must use sanitizing test strips daily to confirm correct concentration, to be corrected by May 3; NC/R — clean floor/corners/coving to remove debris, repair shelf on floor, repair/replace tiles in kitchen area where they are cracked/broken, to be corrected by Aug. 1.
