To the editor:

Electing a judge of the Circuit Court is easily one of the most important offices we have to vote on this election cycle. Upon Judge Culver’s retirement, Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed Scott Sirk as judge of the Circuit Court for the rest of the unexpired term. Following a comprehensive vetting process, Gov. Holcomb appointed Judge Sirk from a field of applicants that included his two opponents.

Judge Sirk served as court commissioner for eight years, getting valuable training from Judges Rick Culver, Terry Snow and Dan Marshall. During that time he heard thousands of cases, both criminal and civil. Judge Sirk’s four years as deputy prosecutor also gave him valuable courtroom experience. In total Judge Sirk has had 29 years of courtroom experience in Hancock County, including time in private practice.

Judge Sirk has the temperament, compassion and in-depth legal knowledge to preside over the Circuit Court, which is the court that gets “the worst of the worst.” His passion for taking the Drug Court, over which he also presides, to the next level is unmatched.

Let’s continue the excellent reputation that the Circuit Court enjoyed under former Judge Rick Culver. Please join me in supporting Scott Sirk for Circuit Court Judge.
