U.S. Senator visits Greenfield business

GREENFIELD – A U.S. Congressman stopped in Hancock County this month to work alongside local employees and tour a Greenfield business.

Joe Donnelly, who represents Indiana in the U.S. Senate, visited Stanley Black & Decker and shadowed workers on the power tool assembly line to get a sense of what they do on a day-to-day basis.

The tour, which took place Aug. 10, was part of the statewide “Donnelly Day” events, an ongoing series of visits to Hoosier workplaces.

During his tour at the local facility, located at 501 W. New Road, Stanley Black & Decker employees led Donnelly through the process of wiring, testing and packing a power tool.

Bret Smith, who leads a team of workers at the facility, said he was pleased to see the senator going out of his way to meet with workers.

“He honestly seemed interested in what we do,” said Smith, who’s worked with the company for five years. “It’s nice to see him out on the floor with us.”
