GREENFIELD — An Elwood teen was arrested Sunday after police said he ran naked through Riley Park in Greenfield while he was high on cough syrup.

Kyle Gillam, 19, faces charges of public nudity, public indecency, indecent exposure and resisting law enforcement. Gillam was found naked near the baseball fields where Little League games were reportedly taking place.

The teen was shot with a Taser three times by officers because he put up a struggle while officers attempted to detain him, police said.

Gillam was transported to Hancock Regional Hospital, where doctors discovered he was hallucinating after overdosing on cough syrup, court documents state.

Once the drugs had worn off, Gillam was released from the hospital and taken into police custody. During questioning, he told officers he had no memory of what had happened that day.

Gillam appeared for an initial hearing before Hancock County Superior Court 2 Judge Dan Marshall on Monday, where he entered a plea of not guilty.

Gillam is being held for 15 days in Hancock County Jail because he was on probation at the time of incident. He now faces several misdemeanor charges, which could result in a year of jail time and up to $5,000 in fines.

He is scheduled to be back in court June 2.
