GREENFIELD — People who are blind or have poor vision can now easily “read” books, newspapers, reports and mail at the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield.

The “Eye-Pal SOLO” reading and magnifying device was donated by local resident Walter Worland.

The device is available in the public computer area. Users can put on headphones for privacy and place a document face-up on a black box. The “Eye-Pal” will automatically magnify the text onscreen and read it aloud.

The “Eye-Pal” is not a computer, doesn’t have Internet access and doesn’t print. It is only for viewing and hearing text.
