New Palestine gymnasts leap past Golden Bears

The New Palestine gymnastics team ended its regular season with a 105.475-88.05 win against Shelbyville Tuesday.

The Dragons swept the top four all-around spots: Kate Fee (36.55 points) was followed by Regan Elsea (36.25), Tara Morey (32.25) and Faith Land (30.8).

Fee won the uneven bars (8.9) competition and tied with Elsea for first place on the vault (9.05). Elsea took the top spot in the floor exercise (9.45) and balance beam (9.375).

Morey posted her best score of the night on vault with an 8.525, trailing only Fee and Elsea. Land was just behind Morey at 8.3

Emily Heighway grabbed third on the bars (8.275) for the Dragons.

New Palestine will compete in the Connersville Sectional on March 7.

Cougars salute champs from elementary dual

Eastern Hancock events seeking participants

The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters will conduct their annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament March 14 at Eastern Hancock Schools. The tourney will consist of five divisions of play for boys and girls, as well as an open division for those older than high school age.

Early registrations are due March 7. Space permitting, registrations will be accepted from 9 to 10 a.m. the day of the tourney. For more information, including an entry form, visit the school websites at ehathletics.org or ehhoops.org, or contact Greg Hall at [email protected].

The Eastern Hancock Youth Baseball Program is accepting registrations for boys and girls in 6U, 9U and 12U leagues. Register with Lorrie Edwards in the high school athletics office.
