Former city official pleads guilty to fraud

INDIANAPOLIS — Former Greenfield city official and money manager Ron Nichter pleaded guilty Friday to eight federal counts of mail fraud. He was indicted in 2013 when investigators said he stole $160,000 from clients in a check mail scheme. Nichter faces a 20-year sentence and up to $250,000 in fines.

Eight charges of aggravated identity theft were dismissed in the United States District Court of Southern Indiana. Sentencing has not yet been set.
