HANCOCK COUNTY — The Hancock County Community Foundation recently awarded Neighborhoods Against Substance Abuse a $1,000 grant from HCCF’s Enrichment Fund.

The organization is a community partnership that strives to develop healthy lifestyles through prevention, education, treatment and enforcement of substance abuse issues for youth and adults.

The grant dollars awarded to the association will help fund Operation Med-Safe, a multifaceted program with a goal to reduce prescription drug abuse in Hancock County.

HCCF specifically supported an educational card designed to be placed in doctors’ offices and act as a tool for physicians to use when talking to patients about prescription drug abuse.

This year, the association will celebrate serving Hancock County for 25 years, providing services such as community drug tosses and the Hancock County Underage Drinking Task Force.
