William H. Schweitzer, age 75, of Greenfield, passed away on Dec. 29, 2011, in Greenfield. Born on Oct. 14, 1936, in Covington, Ky., he was the son of Herbert and Beulah (Burris) Schweitzer.

William graduated from Gallatin County High School in Warsaw, Ky., in 1954, and married Jo Belle Howell on Dec. 15, 1956. He worked for Teamsters Local 135 in Indianapolis as a truck driver for over thirty years before retiring in 1995. He loved golfing, gardening, sports, and carpentry. He also was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Indianapolis Colts, and of IU basketball.

 Surviving him are his wife, Jo Belle Schweitzer of Greenfield; son, William “Michael” Schweitzer of Greenfield; daughters, Anita McCoy of New Palestine and Kelli Danz of Indianapolis; sister, Hazel Mae Schmitt of Lakeland, Fla.; two grandchildren, Drew (Shelley) McCoy of Indianapolis and Carrie McCoy of New Palestine; and one great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, George Schweitzer.

 Visitation was on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services took place on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Entombment took place at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
