Doris M. Vaughn, age 79, a resident of Shirley, passed away on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle. Born on Sept. 6, 1932, in Russell County, Ky., and is the daughter of the late Benjamin George and Zepha (Johnson) Polston.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Grant City Wesleyan Church and the Homemaker’s Club. She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved sewing.
Surviving include two son’s, Richard Edward (Ava) Vaughn, of Bowling Green, Ky., Gary Duane (Sheryl) Vaughn of Shirley; daughter, Stella Marie (Jim) Anderson, of Carthage; two sisters, Emma Tompkins of Wilkinson, Louise McRoberts of Shirley; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Vaughn; two sisters, Betty June Polston, Mildred Anderson; and a brother, Benjamin Polston.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at the funeral home with Rev. Raymond Hood officiating. Burial will follow at McCray cemetery in Wilkinson.
