Doris “Jean” Ward, age 81, passed away on March 3, 2011, at her apartment in Punta Gorda, Florida. Born on Oct. 21, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., she was one of three daughters of Clayman and Martha Clark. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1947. She married Edgar M. Ward on June 21, 1947.
Mrs. Ward graduated from the School of Practical Nursing in 1955. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Community Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind., for 10 years and then transferred to the Hancock Memorial Hospital where she would retire in 1983. Mrs. Ward was a member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving her are her two sons, Edgar J. Ward of Greenfield, and Jim Ward of Alexandria,Va.; and her dearest friend, Cathy Drake of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Edgar M. Ward of Greenfield.
Funeral services will take place at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield, with visitation taking place from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
