Anthony “Tony” J. Shelton, age 65, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at his home in Greenfield. He was born on October 5, 1945, in Indianapolis. He was the son of Preston Tony and Esther Mae (Gerber) Shelton.

Tony graduated from Arlington High School in 1964, and married Penny L. Taylor on October 1, 1965. Penny preceded him in death in 2006. Tony worked at Eli Lilly as a journeyman electrician for 27 years before retiring in 2008. He was a hard worker who loved boating, the Colts, and Nascar. He was very organized, very well liked, and raced motorcross in his younger years. He also served in the United States Navy during Vietnam.

Surviving him are his children, Robert Shelton of Greenwood and Lori McCammon of Poland, Ind.; mother, Esther Mae Shelton of Oaklandon; brother, Lee (Cathy) Shelton, originally of Hancock County; and grandchildren, Olivia, Miranda, and Cassidy.

Preceding him in death were his wife and father.

Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011, at the mortuary. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
