Bernice M. Apple, 87, of Fortville, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born June 3, 1923, in Port Allegheny, Penn. to the late Harry W. and Georgia A. (Paul) Anderson.
She graduated from the Old Fortville High School and in addition to being a homemaker, also worked at the Fortville Ice Cream Store from 1957 to 1971. She was a member of Psi Iota Xi since 1941 and active in the “Love in Action Group” at the Fortville Christian Church. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling and was a devoted grandmother.
She is survived by her children, all of McCordsville, Dennis G. Apple, Dale L. Apple, Shelley (Russell) Hayse; grandchildren, Denisa M. (Rob) McIntyre, John (Trina) Apple, Courtney (Chris) Clardy, Reggie (Sandy) Hayse, Jason Hayes and Bradley (Kristen) Hayse; 17 great-grandchildren; and brother, Harry (Gay Bee) Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Gene” Apple; and sister, Phyllis Heche.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
