Donald W. “Buzz” Wood, age 85, of Huntsville, passed away on Thursday, Feb.10, 2011, at the Rawlins House in Pendleton. He was born on May 15, 1925, in Huntsville, Ind. and was a life long resident.

Buzz was a carpenter for many years and was a millwright for Delco Remy in Anderson for 18 years. He attended Pendleton schools and was a World War II Navy veteran. Buzz was a member of Ovid Community Church, Madison Masonic Lodge 44 F.&. A.M.of Pendleton, Murat Shrine Temple of Indianapolis, Madison County Shrine Club and Pendleton AMVETS Post 26. He loved to fish, especially with a special nephew, John Owens. He was the caretaker of Huntsville Cemetery for 20 years. Buzz was known as the Mayor of Huntsville.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Hart) Wood, whom he married Aug.13, 1949; six children, Roger Wood, David (Donna) Wood, Dan (Laura) Wood, Joy Wood, Brady (Heather) Wood, all of Pendleton, and Penny (Mike) Ginley of Markleville; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Anna (Jarvis) Wood; and two brothers, William and George Wood.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at Lahm Chapel in Pendleton. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, with Pastor Keith Wooden officiating. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery.
