Gertrude I. Priest, 99, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the Golden Living Center, Brandywine. She was born Sept. 3, 1911, in Noble County, to the late Stanley and Coral (Stage) Surfus.
Gertrude was a graduate of Ligonier High School, worked for P.N. Hirsh Company of Greenfield and was a member of Trinity Park United Methodist Church, Hope Rebekah Lodge and the Ligonier O.E.S.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue Ann Bennett of Indianapolis; son, James E. (Bonnie) Priest of Greenfield; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur B. Priest, 2004; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at the funeral home, with Pastor Michael Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
