PHILADELPHIA — Authorities say a woman found buried in a shallow grave behind an apartment building in northeast Philadelphia had been stabbed to death.
Police said the body of 39-year-old Kelly Hepft had been wrapped in black plastic bags before she was buried in the Frankford section of the city.
Investigators said the building superintendent stumbled upon the shallow grave in the back of the building and called police. Arriving officers saw part of a woman's food sticking out of the ground.
Police said the city medical examiner's office concluded that the victim died of multiple stab wounds to the head, neck and chest.
Police said a man who was nearby was taken into custody after a struggle with officers. No charges have been filed in the case.
