BIRMINGHAM, England — Newcastle maintained its resurgent Premier League form with its fourth consecutive win, a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Sunday.
The visitors opened the scoring late in the first half through Ayoze Perez, who converted Daryl Janmaat's cross from close range for his third goal in as many games.
Newcastle doubled the lead in the 62nd minute when Fabricio Coloccini headed in from another cross by Janmaat.
West Brom, which came into the game undefeated in three league games, enjoyed the bulk of possession in the second half but failed to convert that advantage into goals.
The result catapults Newcastle above West Brom and into the top half of the table after starting the season without a win in its first seven games.
