BURLINGTON, Vermont — A three-person transition team has been appointed to oversee operations at Burlington College following the departure of its president.

Christine Plunkett became the college's fifth president in 2013.

The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/1w2kln0) the college released a statement saying Plunkett resigned last week. It didn't say if that happened before or after she was confronted by students Friday following a meeting with the board of trustees.

The small, private college has been facing financial problems. In July, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, put the college on a two-year probation because of concerns about finances.

The college planned a news conference Tuesday.
