SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah judge is declining to separate two charges filed against a Colorado teenager accused in the 2012 death of his girlfriend.

Judge Dane Nolan said Friday he'll reconsider after hearing the evidence against the 17-year-old at a March 2 hearing.

Prosecutors say the teen beat to death 15-year-old Anne Kasprzak, who was found dead in a river of after she told people she was pregnant, even though her parents later told police she wasn't.

The suspect was 14 at the time. The Associated Press is not naming him because he is a juvenile.

The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1AdWAg0 ) prosecutors want to try him as an adult for murder and obstruction of justice, but his lawyers asked Nolan to consider keeping the obstruction charge in juvenile court.
