BILOXI, Mississippi — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality issued pre-emptive beach closures Monday for a section of beach in Biloxi from Beauvoir east to Sadler Beach Drive. A closure was also issued for Station 7 in Pass Christian, which spans from Espy Avenue to Hayden Avenue.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1qbtU3r ) the Biloxi closure is due to a sewage bypass at the lift station on Brady Drive. The Pass Christian closure is due to a bypass caused by a lift station power outage.

MDEQ advises residents not to enter the water or consume any seafood collected from these nearshore waters until further notice.
